Destination Moon : Clemessy takes part in the Artemis space programme orchestrated by NASA and ESA
Following the success of the Artemis I space mission, the Artemis programme continues, with the aim of returning to the Moon. Clemessy is taking part in this first mission (as well as future ones) and is in charge of maintenance on the monitoring & control systems for the European Service Module for the Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (ESM-MPCV) programme. In other words: maintenance on test and simulation equipment for the Orion spacecraft service module, launched by the Artemis rocket.

The first space mission of the Artemis programme orchestrated by NASA and ESA Artemis 1 was successfully completed on 11 December 2022. After a long 25-day journey around the Moon, Orion landed off the coast of Mexico, shortly after separating from the first ESM-MPCV module. Our Clemessy experts, who contributed to this first mission, are already hard at work on the following ones.
“While the spacecraft was returning to Earth, we signed a contract for maintenance on ESM electrical test equipment for Airbus and ArianeGroup. This three-and-a-half-year contract will cover ESM 4 to ESM 6 testing, for which we will provide maintenance, support and hardware. On the strength of our experience, and as a follow-up to this contract, we will shortly be responding to a call for tenders for the maintenance of three additional modules (ESM 7 to ESM 9)", said Clemessy project manager Jean-Louis Nachbaur.
In a quality audit carried out by ESA, Clemessy was ranked first (equal with Thales Alenia Space) among some forty companies that have contributed to the ESM-MPCV programme.
At NASA's Cape Canaveral launch pad in Florida everyone's eyes are now on the Moon, with minds focused on upcoming missions Artemis II (a manned flight into lunar orbit) and Artemis III (the first crew moon landing).
