Eiffage Energie Systèmes connects a solar photovoltaic plant in Samognat (01) for EDF Renewables

In 2016, EDF Renewables launched a solar power plant project for the Haut-Bugey agglomeration in the Ain department. Working alongside other trades, our employees were involved in connecting the photovoltaic modules to the transformer substation.

Our teams began by digging almost 500 m of trenches, in order to place ducts for the subsequent hoisting of the cables. They then installed the supporting structures for the photovoltaic modules (2,218 driven or drilled-concrete piles at a depth of 1.5 m), before attaching the 10,243 modules.

Their prerogatives also included supplying, craning and connecting the transformer-delivery station, as well as installing, connecting and commissioning 17 inverters (Huawei 185 KTL) and monitoring.

In addition, our specialists took charge of cabling the power plant. They winched and connected the low-voltage AC cables between the inverters and the transformer substation. They also rolled out the low-voltage DC cables, made the photovoltaic connectors and connected up the modules. Our experts were responsible for the temporary operation of Samognat solar power plant during the commissioning phase.

Samognat solar power plant is located in a former sand quarry 10 km from Oyonnax. It has total installed capacity of 3.5 MWp. Each year, it will be able to produce the equivalent of the average annual electricity consumption of about 1,600 inhabitants, thus avoiding the production of 91 tons of CO2 per year.
