Campus AI : Eiffage selected for deployment of shared infrastructure on the Fouju Campus
Campus AI has announced Eiffage as the general contractor for the construction of a high-voltage electrical substation and shared infrastructure on its Fouju Campus in a contract worth more than €120 million. This announcement marks the beginning of the project’s operational phase and confirms one of Campus AI’s commitment to deploy world-class artificial-intelligence infrastructure in France, made at the Choose France 2025 summit.
The project is being implemented in a consortium led by Eiffage Énergie Systèmes, which is responsible for the design, engineering, provision, construction and commissioning of a 400/33 kV electrical substation with final power output of 1.4 GW. Eiffage Génie Civil will build shared infrastructure, including buildings and engineering structures for the substation, and Eiffage Route will be responsible for roads, utilities and landscaping.
In turning to a major national player, Campus AI has confirmed its ambition to root the construction of its campus in the French industrial landscape. The synergies between Eiffage business lines and its expertise in high-voltage electrical equipment, civil engineering, roads and utilities facilitate full integration of the project execution chain and accelerated timescales.
Eiffage and Campus AI have a shared ambition to embed this project within the local economic fabric. The Eiffage Group will therefore be mobilising its teams in the Île-de-France region (Paris and bordering departments) and prioritising recruitment of regional subcontractors and SMEs.
This announcement highlights the ambition championed by AI Campus: to make France the European manufacturing centre for artificial intelligence by building computing infrastructure capable of supporting macro-scale AI uses and making tangible contributions to the European industrial value chain with every site. It continues the record investment momentum announced at the Choose France 2025 summit.
The metal-clad substation will be insulated using gas with low global warming potential, an innovation that is already delivering environmental benefits. This voluntary initiative by Campus AI, which Eiffage Énergie Systèmes fully supports, is a first for this type of equipment and this voltage level.
“With the appointment of Eiffage, Campus AI is moving from the design phase to the implementation one. Choosing a major French industrial group to build the campus’ electrical heart and its infrastructure means choosing excellence in execution and sustainable grounding in French industry. We are building in France a piece of infrastructure that will make it possible to deploy macro-scale artificial intelligence in Europe.” Thibaud Desfossés, General Manager of Campus AI
“We are proud to support Campus AI in realising a capacity-building project for national, and by extension European, digital sovereignty. Synergy between our business lines — energy transmission and distribution, civil engineering, linear infrastructure — enables us to apply an integrated solution to this campus that equals the industrial ambition of Campus AI. With this contract, Eiffage is reaffirming its commitment to stakeholders in the data centre and AI factories sector.” Ludovic Duplan, Chairman of Eiffage Énergie Systèmes
